Who should take the course?

The course will be beneficial to construction managers, site supervisors, designers, warranty representatives, estimators, sub trades, contractors and other members of your building team.


What will I get out of the course?

This course provides an opportunity for Alberta builders to learn how to:

  • Identify the basic properties of soils.
  • Recognize site conditions that require special attention.
  • Describe development requirements from the pre-development stage to post-construction.
  • Describe common causes of foundation and structural damage.
  • Identify and understand potential solutions to soil problems.
  • Describe common remediation techniques.
  • Interpret the building codes in relation to proper building techniques on soils.
  • Become familiar with legal issues surrounding residential building construction.
  • List what should be considered in the order of operations for residential development.


How long will it take me to complete the course?

It should take you approximately 15 hours to complete the course. We suggest that you complete one or two modules per week, over a period of eight weeks. Take a look at the list below to see how long it should take you to complete each module!

Module 9 - Workshop [0.5 hour]


How long do I have to complete the course?

You have six months from the date of course registration to complete the online course and the one day pacticum. You will be required to pay again should the two components not be completed within the allotted timeframe.


What do I do if I forget my password?

  1. Go to http://stantec.informetica.com/anhwp
  2. Click on Forgot Your Password?
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Click Send.

You will receive your login information within a few minutes.


Can I leave the course open in the background while I do other work?

Yes! However, after 20 minutes of inactivity, you will be logged out. For better results, exit the course if you have other work to do.


What should I do if my popups are being blocked?

Internet Explorer versions 6.0 and above have a built-in popup blocker. If a popup is being blocked, you will see a yellow bar at the top of your Internet Explorer window.

If you have done all these steps and your popups are still being blocked, hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard at the same time as you click on the hyperlink.


What happens if I fail the final test?

You can take the final test as often as needed. If you fail the test, try it again until you pass.


Once I have completed the course, do I get a certificate?

Yes! Once you have successfully completed the online final test, you will have access to an electronic certificate. The certificate will be located under the Certifications tab.


How much does the course cost?

$595(CDN) + GST per person for the first two participants per Builder Member organization and $495(CDN) + GST for each person thereafter.


How can I pay for the course?

To pay with Visa, MasterCard or cheque, go to http://www.solutions.ca/ANHWPOnlinePayment and follow the instructions on that page.
